Cheviot Hill Farm

Naturally raised grass fed lamb

Our Sheep and Practice

Picture
The Cheviot  Breed originates from the Cheviot hills in south eastern Scotland. They can be traced back there as far as 1372. Cheviot wool was the foundation of the Scottish tweed industry. They are still today a favorite on Scotland's dinner table. The delicate flavor lends itself well to any receipe and is easily enjoyed by people who "don't like lamb".
Our flock of sheep live in Pleasant Hill Oregon and freely graze on grass and wander through our 100% organically managed ageing apple and pear ochards. We do not use chemical wormers, hormones or prophylactic antibiotic treatments. Our practice is to rotate pasture and use garlic feed to minimize parasitic pressure. Our sheep never endure any abuse from electric prod or fence. All of our butchering is done locally and travel is at an absolute minimum. Buy local.
